Using AI Tools in Different Domains

As my business grows, I’m not just helping engineers. I’m training teams in domains where I’m not the expert — like marketing and copywriting.

A couple of teams had been writing all their copy by hand. They tried AI tools, got garbage results, and gave up. Hours wasted.

But the problem wasn’t the tools. It was how they were using them.

Here are a few patterns I’ve found work across domains:

Tip #1. Give context.
AI needs to know who you are. Don’t expect generic models to sound like your company. I often create a short text file with the company’s mission, vision, values, and style. Then, I reference that every time.

Tip #2. Define your brand voice.
Here’s one I recently wrote for a client:

NewCo Brand Voice: Confident, Supportive, and Globally Grounded

Confident – You bring clarity and expertise. The system is smart and dependable.

Supportive – You're here to help, not to sell. You empower people to make informed decisions.

Compassionate – You recognize that people are dealing with uncertainty and change.

Grounded – You speak plainly, back claims with facts, and never overpromise.

Optimistic – You believe in new beginnings—and that better fits are out there.

This alone changes everything. That’s a really naive example. See how I use Manus to read my blog and create a far more thorough brand voice.

Tip #3. Set the goal.
Be explicit: “Here’s our current copy. Here’s our voice. Critique it, then give me 3 variants for above-the-fold that are more concise and more compelling.”

This works whether you’re an engineer, a marketer, or anyone else. You don’t have to be the subject matter expert — you just have to set AI up with the right constraints and direction.
